Activities
At Sable Cottage, we maintain a varied activities program. We have a dedicated Activities Coordinator, Ben Woodhouse, who has extensive experience in working with the elderly and those with dementia. Ben is responsible for organising and implementing group orientated activities. As well as the normal day-to-day activities, musicians and other entertainers visit the homes and there are weekly outings to local attractions and to entertainments.
Residents are encouraged not only to take part in group activities, but to spend at least part of the day away from their bedrooms by making use of the Homes' communal facilities.
All our residents are encouraged to use the Home as if it was their own and to maintain contact with family and friends and therefore there are no restrictive visiting times.
Residents are free to choose to entertain visitors either in their own rooms or in the garden and visitors, particularly spouses, are welcome to have a meal with the resident.
Ben is also responsible for all fundraising efforts which go towards the Residents’ Fund; this fund pays for supplies and, in certain circumstances, entry to attractions.
