Meals

Meals are important time of the day at Sable Cottage and residents look forward to them as we pride ourself on the excellent food we offer. All our meals are prepared from scratch on our premises by our head chef David Leybourne and assistant chef Ali. Davie is constantly updating our menus creating wonderful nutruitous dishes for our residents using fresh, local produce.

We have transformed the dining experience for our residents by banning nurses and their medicine trolleys from our dining room (the standard practice in most nursing homes is to give medicines during mealtimes as it is convenient for the nurses when all residents are in one place!). The food served is of restaurant quality and the ambience is achieved through lighting and background music.

In 2008, Sable Cottage was awarded the Chester City Council Platinum Eat Well Award and we have maintained five stars from our local Environmental Health Authority Inspection. Since then we have continued to uphold our meal standards and have introduced freshly baked biscuits and cakes for our residents.

At each meal, residents are given a choice as to the preferred meal and we are happy to accommodate special requests and restricted diets.
